Once upon a time in Luling County (somewhere in Northeast of Jishui County), Jiangxi Province, there was a midwife called Suyi. She was very good at delivering babies.

One night, a tiger came to her house and picked her up with his mouth. He ran for about six or seven kilometers before finally arriving at a large grave. Then, the tiger set her down in front of a tigress which was lying on the ground and crouched down. Suyi saw that the tigress was in labor, but she seemed to have difficulty delivering her cubs. The tigress lay in pain on the ground, and looked like she was about to die. She kept looking at Suyi for help.

Suyi realized why the tiger brought her here. So, she quickly helped the tigress to deliver her cubs. Finally, three little tiger cubs were born. After that, the tiger carried Suyi back home. From that day on, the tigers frequently left meat as presents at Suyi’s doorstep to thank her for her help.

Tigers are usually regarded as fearsome creatures. But this amazing story shows that tigers understand gratitude and know to repay the kindness shown to them.

　　在廬陵郡（今江西省吉水縣東北），有個接生婆叫蘇易，她很會替人接生。
　　有一天的夜裡來了一隻老虎，突然將她叼走，叼著她走了大約六、七公里路，來到一個很大的墳墓前，老虎將蘇易放到地上母老虎前面，放下後老虎馬上蹲在一邊，這時蘇易看到眼前這隻母老虎正在生產，不過好像是生不出來，母老虎趴在地上，十分痛苦到快要死掉的樣子，卻一直抬起頭看著蘇易。
　　這時蘇易終於知道為什麼老虎要把她抓來這裡，於是馬上向前替母老虎接生，最後一共接生出三隻小老虎，生完後，在一旁等待的老虎又背著蘇易回到她家中。從此，老虎常叼著野獸的肉到蘇易家表示答謝。
　　老虎給人的印象都是凶猛的，但在本篇中卻看到老虎通人性，懂得知恩圖報，十分奇特。
