Introduction: Glove puppetry (Budaixi) shows adopt the performance form of 30% on stage and 70% backstage. Backstage music is further divided into string instruments as literary field (wen chang) and percussion instruments as martial field (wu chang), each creating a different dramatic mood and rhythm for the plot. The script needs to follow a clearly-defined structure with a background, type of story, characters, personality traits and styles that will bring the audience into the story.
