There was once a big bird who lived on a little island. There was a pond on the island. The bird could empty the pond in a single gulp. As he was bigger than the fish and the shrimp living on the island, the bird proudly thought that he was the biggest animal in the world. He laughed at the little fish and shrimp in the pond, and decided to fly across the sea. He kept flying till he felt very tired. He landed on a huge red pillar sticking out from the sea and rested for a while.

Suddenly, the pillar began to move. The frightened bird looked down, and saw that the pillar was actually a huge lobster's feeler. The lobster was as huge as a large boat. The bird realized that he was not the biggest animal of all. So, he drooped his head and flew back to his island. From then on, the bird stopped laughing at the little fish and shrimp in the pond.

The lobster saw the scared bird and thought to himself, "I am so huge! Surely, I am the biggest animal of all!" He became very proud, and laughed at the other animals in the sea. When they swam too close to him, he used his huge claws to chase them away.

One day, The lobster saw a dark cave in front of him. He swam into the cave to rest, and groom his beautiful feelers. Suddenly, there was a loud sneeze. "Achoo!" The lobster was thrown miles away, and broke his spine on a huge rock. From then on, the lobster could not straighten his back. The dark cave was actually the nostril of an enormous whale! This story teaches us to be humble and respectful of others.

　　海上有個島嶼，島上住著一隻大鵬鳥，牠一口氣就能喝光島上的湖水；由於島上的魚、蝦和牠比起來，實在太小了，大鵬鳥就認為自己是世界上最大的動物。驕傲的牠，不屑得看著魚和蝦，抬起頭拍拍翅膀往海上飛去，飛呀！飛呀！飛累了，看到海上有根紅色大柱子，就停在上面休息一下。

　　沒多久，柱子竟然開始動起來，大鵬鳥嚇得趕緊飛起來一看，紅柱子竟然是大龍蝦的鬍鬚，大龍蝦像艘大船一樣大，大鵬鳥這才知道，自己並不是世界上最大的動物，只好低著頭飛回島上，從此再也不敢輕視魚和蝦子了。

　　大龍蝦看到大鵬鳥被自己嚇個半死，心想：「我這麼偉大，海裡的魚蝦算什麼東西！」從此不再正眼瞧一下海裡的生物。有一天，大龍蝦又橫行霸道到處游，碰到牠的小魚小蝦，都被牠揮手撥開。

　　這時牠看到一個好黑的洞，就游進去看看，並在裡面整理牠那美麗的鬍鬚，這時一聲「哈啾！」大龍蝦被彈出去，撞到好幾十里外的岩石上，整個脊椎都被撞碎了，後來再也沒辦法把背挺起來，所以，龍蝦到現在都是彎著背的。

　　原來黑黑的洞，是大鯨魚的鼻孔啊！真是一山還有一山高，千萬不可以自滿才是。
