During the Warring States period, there was a monkey keeper in the State of Song who liked monkeys very much. Not only did he rear a lot of monkeys, he also learned how to speak to them. However, as the number of monkeys grew, they ate more food, and the monkey keeper found himself short of money. So, he decided to reduce the monkeys’ food. 

He told the monkeys, “From now on, can I give each of you three fruits in the morning, and four in the evening? ” The monkeys were furious upon hearing this, and would not accept the change. So, the man said, “Okay. What about four fruits in the morning, and three in the evening? ”When the monkeys heard that they would each have one more fruit in the morning, they happily accepted the new arrangement.

戰國時代，宋國狙公很喜歡猴子，他不但養了很多的猴子，而且還學會怎麼跟猴子說話。後來因為猴子越養越多，錢也越花越多，狙公沒有辦法負擔這麼多錢，只好決定減少猴子的食物。

他對猴子們說：「以後每天早上給你們每隻三顆果子，傍晚給四顆，好不好？」猴子們聽了很生氣，完全不能接受。狙公只好說：「我改成早上四顆，傍晚三顆，怎麼樣？」猴子們聽到每天早上可以多吃一顆果子，都非常高興。
