There was a fruit vendor in Hangzhou, who knew how to store tangerines well. After buying his tangerines, customers found that they did not spoil even after a year, and still looked very fresh. Therefore, though his tangerines were ten times as expensive as normal tangerines, people still flocked to buy his tangerines. 

I bought a tangerine from him too. But as soon as I peeled it, I smelled something strange. On the inside, the pulp was as dry as a rag. I asked him, “Can this tangerine be eaten? You are cheating people based on appearances! ” 

The vendor replied, “I have been selling tangerines for many years. You are the only one who has an issue with my tangerines, and calls me a cheat. But have you ever thought about the current generals and ministers? They may seem impressive on the outside, but in reality, are they truly capable of serving the country? Instead of accusing them of cheating people, you are here complaining about my tangerines! Does that make any sense? ” 

I did not know what to say. Perhaps he was using his tangerines to express his dissatisfaction with the country. 

杭州有個賣水果的小販，很會保存橘子。買他的橘子回家，就算放了一年也不會壞，看起來仍然很新鮮，所以雖然價格比一般的橘子貴十倍，大家還是搶著買。

我也跟他買了一個橘子，但是才一剝開，就聞到怪味，看看裡面，果肉乾得跟破布一樣。我問他：「你賣的橘子能吃嗎？根本就是靠外表來騙錢的吧！」

那個人說：「我賣橘子這麼多年了，就只有你對我的橘子有意見，還說我是騙子。但是你有沒有想過，現在當將軍的、當大臣的，表面看起來都是了不起的人才，實際上呢？他們真的有能力為國家做事嗎？你不去說這些人騙人，卻來說我的橘子不好！這樣像話嗎？」

我真的不知道該怎麼回答，他也許是用橘子來表示自己對國家的不滿吧。
