Once upon a time, there was a young man called Zheng Zhong-bian. He was very strong and had never been sick in his life. One day, he noticed a small bump on his left thumb. People who saw it thought there was no need to worry. After three days, the bump grew to the size of a coin. Zheng Zhong-bian started to be concerned, but everyone dismissed it as nothing serious. Another three days passed, his thumb had swollen to the size of a fist, and his other four fingers began to hurt too. 

Zheng Zhong-bian was terrified, and went to see the doctor. The doctor exclaimed, “This illness is hard to cure! If you had come in when it was just a bump, it would have been cured in a day. After three days, it would have taken over ten days and a lot of medicinal herbs to cure. But now, your condition is very serious. Your hand is so swollen, you might even be disabled! It may take over three months to fully cure! ” In the end, it took three months before Zheng Zhong-bian’s thumb was finally cured. 

Most big problems usually start off as something trivial. At first, they are easy to tackle. But, if ignored, they may take a lot of time and effort to resolve. So, while people know to be scared of immediate dangers and emergencies, they often neglect small issues and don't take them seriously.

從前有個年輕人，名叫鄭仲辨，他的身體很強壯，從來沒生過病。有一天，他的左手大拇指長了一顆小疹子，讓別人看過，都認為不用擔心。過了三天，疹子變得有錢幣的大小，鄭仲辨開始緊張了，可是大家還是說他大驚小怪。又過了三天，拇指竟然腫到跟拳頭一樣大，其他四根手指也開始痛了起來。

鄭仲辨很害怕，請醫生看過後，醫生很吃驚地說：「這病不好治啊！如果能在發病時治的話，一天就可以治好，發病三天後，必須要用很多藥材，花上十天以上才能治好；現在病情已經很嚴重了，這隻手腫成這樣，也有可能會殘廢！現在要治癒，至少三個月以上吧！」最後，花了三個月的時間，鄭仲辨才慢慢地恢復健康。

很多問題，通常是從小地方發生的，開始時容易解決卻不處理，到了最後，就要花上很多的力氣和時間，才能把事情勉強解決。所以危急的事情，大家會害怕會注意；但是小的問題，一般人卻很少放在心上。
